at Aitkin High School
Facts:
The average household income in Aitkin is $37,177 ($3098 a month). The national average is $75,149 ($6264 a month).

"For many, this will be their very first set of new clothes. If you didn't grow up with new clothes, you will always remember your first new shirt, pants, underwear and socks. This is BIG."
After buying shelves and thousands of dollars of new clothes,
we have a "store"!
Donations of USED clothes are accepted ONLY for the following 3 catagories:
1.Prom dresses
2.Band/Choir performance clothes. White shirt, black pants, black shoes. We see this as a loan for the performance day. We wash them and put them back on the rack for the next performance. We don't want clothes to be a barrier for joining choir or band.
3.Gobbler Gear. Aitkin High School branded clothing will be accepted. This isn't likely to be identifiable as hand me downs.
These items can be dropped off at the High School.
If you would like to donate money, please send a check to
ISD#1, 306 N 2nd St NW,
Aitkin MN 56431.
Please note that it is for the "The Closet"

We want to thank the Aitkin Women of Today for their generous donation, as well as various donations from individual women in Aitkin.

This project would not be possible without the determination of a few anonymous staff. They had the vision, defined it, called meetings, wrote the grant, got the grant, allocated a portion of a room, went shopping, got shelves built, put together and filled the shelves, sent emails to teachers and students, and made it possible to open the store to teens in need. Amazing!
You may never know the impact -
but you have given the gift of dignity to a teen,
and that can change the future!
